460 timing chain question

so ive been trying to fix this damn near ruined f250 i bought. i got about $600 in parts and got to work on it. well now im down to the timing chain, the cloyes set i bought part number c3013k. didnt work, the cam sprocket couldnt fit onto the cam itself. took me about 5 hours to get somwhere with the idiot at orreillys. So does anyone remember what timing chain set they bought? id prefer to get rid of the nylon sprocket, also there is no putting the old one back on bcuz the chain had an inch of play.

did you make sure that when you did it that your rotor bug was pointing at your #1 cylinder? the way we did it was took the plug out put a straw in there, took off the distributor cap, and lined up the dots. i havent started it yet but i plan to this saturday. also i found the right timing chain but those idiots at orrielys gave me the timing chain for a honda.

I did make sure. I pulled #1 plug stuck my finger over the hole to make sure I was on compression stroke and my rotor is pointed at number 1 on cap. Maybe I'm a tooth or two off? I'm not looking forward to tearing this back down... Ya you've got to be careful getting parts at slO'wreillys.
