my bad v10
i have a v10 4x4 , my truck was in a fire and the dashes were being replaced , the truck while driving slipped back into 4x4 and since the dashes were put in , the guy didn’t get a nee 4x4 switch and now i’m driving in 4x4 without my hubs locked though , anyone have any suggestions on getting it back to 2 wheel drive so i can start saving some money on gas lol . i was thinking there’s gotta be like two wires to short or something

The switch is based on resistance. Each setting trips a different resistor to send a different voltage to the computer that controls 4x4 (GEM in 00-01 and dash cluster in 02-05). It is not as simple as shorting two wires together...sorry. Are you going to buy a new/used 4x4 switch to solve the problem?

I had an F150 that had 4x4 issues once and I had to take the actuator off the transfer case, move the transfer case to 2wd, make the actuator go back onto the transfer case (had to turn it manually to line up as well) but don't plug the connector back in or it will go back to 4x4. Perhaps the Excursion is similar but that would be my quick fix attempt.
