I have a 78 f250 2wd with a 460 in it. Problem is I want a 4x4. So I bought a 78 f150 4x4 with a 351m in it, is got a c6 auto trans. How hard would it be to put my 460 into the f150? Does the bolt pattern on the housing match with the c6? What all do I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The trans bolt pattern will match the C6. You will need swap motor mounts, a 4x4 460 oil pan and oil pump pick up tube. Having a doner truck for parts will be nice. Pretty sure you can reuse your exhaust manifolds and belt accessories.
Yes you have a front sump oil pan on the 2wd 460 and you really need to swap to a rear sump oil pan with a dip stick in the side of the pan, to clear the front axle properly.
Truck 460 exhaust manifolds should work just fine.
