I traded my GMC C4500 Topkick on my 2017 F450 XL. The GMC I had equipped with a Edge Juice chip to help out in tow mode. The F450 with the 6.7 does not need any help doing the hauling I commonly do. What I do miss is the ability to monitor the temperatures in a display on the dashboard. I see that Forescan may enable these features. Edge doesn’t list anything yet for 2017 (F450). Suggestions.
I had an Edge Insight for monitoring temps, etc. Switched to a phone app (Torque Pro) and a bluetooth ODB2 connector. Way cheaper, way better.
I run Torque Pro on an older Samsung S5 phone (that no longer has cell service turned on) and use an Arkon phone mount. You can use any phone, tablet, phablet, etc. allowing you to go to big or small on screen size. You dont need a dedicated phone I just do that because I had the old phone lying around.
Torque Pro has a very customizable interface. There is a thread on this site where a guy developed specific 6.7 extended PIDs you can use in Torque Pro.
Bossman has you covered, same thing could be done with forescan light and a small non cell android device, old phone or tablet for example. Slightly different OBD2 wireless fob on the port, but same idea.
I dont know why he said they are different, its the same device you would use for either one. You need an ODBII bluetooth device that can read MS-CAN and HS-CAN (if you want to do any of the reprograming options FORscan has.
I ordered a Bluetooth OBDII MX from Amazon. Downloaded Torque Pro into an old Samsung 3 Phone my wife no longer uses. I plan on getting Forescan too. I’ll decide what to do once all is up and running.
