Actually been doing it since 2011, and my trucks are pristine...well except when I gocamping, hunting..etc.
I like getting all the dirt and dust from the nooks and crannies too, but the blower will grab any dirt and dust on one side of the vehicle and sandblast the other side with it on the way out the door. I tried it once; maybe my blower was too strong or my interior too dirty, I dunno.
If it works for you and the results are good, then by all means. I just think in general you'd have to be pretty careful with this method.
Yes, I have a low and fast selection.....I mainly use it for dust, not hard core dirt and mud...that what the guys at the car wash are for.
I buy those cans of compressed air for cleaning computers. Most areas I can clean anyway, but some areas on top of the dash around the raised cowls; some areas on the door panels (like power window switches, etc). Be very careful cleaning the plastic that covers the instruments. It scratches very easily.
Clean microfiber cloth and water. Plastics scratch easily and I’m OCD when it comes to scuffs and scratches.
I can’t stand glossy and greasy interiors. A lot of the gloss and grease products are silicone based and i stay away from that crap. Sure it’s okay for shining up your tires, but not the interior.
I use a vacuum with soft bristle brush attachment on the dash, consoles, and door panels...actually, pretty much the entire interior. This works extremely well and I know I'm not just pushing the dust and dirt around.
I fully believe a clean vehicle lasts much longer than it would otherwise.
