Is the gauge 6 or 12vdc? The sending unit I guess is 12v. What happens when you hook the sending unit up to the gauge, ground the sending unit and then move the arm (float) up and down? Does the gauge register at all?
The rest of your gauges appear to be from the newer truck (they look good BTW) and should be 12vdc. If the gas gauge is 6vdc, then the reducer would only have to be hooked up to it, not the rest of the panel. Having never seen that type of reducer, how does it work? It looks like the connection to a 9vdc battery to me.

Fuel gauges are always a PITA. That reducer you linked doesn't look like the one in the picture to me, but pictures can deceive. I'd recommend this guy's stuff to anyone. Look partway down the page to see the reducers.
Hop over to FordBarn.com; Forums; Early V-8. Search fuel sending unit. Full scale deflection with full voltage applied tells you that the gauge works. Do NOT apply full voltage (6 volts) any longer than it takes the needle to deflect - you will damage the gauge. Your 1946 gauge is King-Seeley and needs a King-Seeley sending unit in the tank. It will not work properly with "modern" resistance sending units (all the repros). I read in one post that Ford used the King-Seeley style into the 1980s so your 1964 sending unit should work. Let us know the results of your testing.
