Hey guys, I am new to this thread. But not new to the car/truck world. My grandfather in law passed away last month and left me a 1955 ford f100 with a first gen cummins diesel, 3 spd 727, and Dana 70 rear. Always had a huge sweet spot ford old ford pick ups.
Nice truck, and that is a powerplant for sure. Welcome to FTE - lots of knowledge and interest here. What are your plans for the truck?
I'd like to keep it the way it was given to me. My father is pushing me to do a crewcab conversion, I'm kinda skeptical about it. I've seen pictures they look cool, but I'd hate to shop it up and there's always that "what if?"

Welcome! That looks to be a real working truck.
One of the better approaches to take with a new old truck is to simply drive it as it sits. From behind the wheel, you'll better understand the vehicle and develop your own sense of any real needs. Turning a driver into a pile of parts to make it 'better' is often the first step to an unrealized dream as life, money, and other priorities intrude. Just drive it for a year and then decide.
Welcome to the forum. I agree with Forty niner drive it and enjoy it before taking it of the street to do repairs. You will never realize how many things need your attention until you try to finish a truck.
I like it AND if you are from central PA i have a pile of scrap steel/metal (i'd guess a few hundred lbs) that you can have it you come get it with that truck.
Welcome to the forum Magnum! Nice Truck and you should have no problem getting help or advice around here. As far as truck identification, is the tag missing from the glove box? The other option would be to find vin # on the frame, as long as it hasn't been swapped out. Oh.....and the hood duck has to go!!! LOL! Just kidding It's your Truck, do what makes YOU happy. Look forward to following!
Cool flatbed truck! I like it... not too sure about the angry duck though! LOL

Good point... It looks like it has dual wheels on the back. If so then its an F350.
Show us more pics.
And like someone earlier said, drive it now and use it then decide if you want to make a crew cab... I think you'll miss the truck when its in the shop.

yes, the identification tag is on the glove box. My grandmother in law was telling the frame was overhauled to compensate for the added weight from the cummins. Hey, Hey, Hey, I love my hood duck. Lol.

And what does your data plate say? If it has F10 its an F100, F25 is an F250, F35 is an F350.
