I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 super cab 7700 truck, tires are BF Goodrich LT285/75R16, which I think are 10.5 by 33. Frist I super chipped it it ran a lot better. Than I but a Volant cold air Intake and air filters, it ran really good. Then I thought about JBA headers and Flow Master muffler no cat duel pipe. I have two problems where the air senor wires are to short they fit on without the rubber boot . Do they make a connector to fit to make longer? Next problem is now after the headers I have a high idle problem it is around 1000 and should be at 720 rpm. I chipped it back to stock for two reason one because when I give it a little like 1/8 gas it spins the tires. live in a small town, even at stock it still spin them, but not as bad, still have more power than I need. Unless pulling a trailer then it is great. But does anyone know how to lower the idle down? I also run the Tornado Fuel Saver it made a little diff before everything but a lot more diff after. I think I'm at 17 mpg, and alot more power. If you can help please do so. Thank Andy
The wires to the air cleaner I think it is the air senors. And yes it idles too high with the stock chip in. Is there a way to idle it down? this idle problem didn't start till the header's were put on. I even disconnect the battery. Still no good, I put one thing at a time on, drove it a week, so I could see the diff. I know that at 70 mph it had a hard time passing other cars but not anymore. Too many dps to test full speed at this time.
BTW, nice to hear you've had such great improvments. It would be worth the investment to get that much poower and mileage improvment. Maybe I should start down that road!
I'm really interested in these Superchips. How much more HP do you get with the chip, and do you notice a big differance in the way your truck run.
I have a 2000 F150 4X4 with a 5.4 L 3:55 Dif with a custom 3.5 daul exhaust system, K/N filter. Do you think the chip would make a big differance with my set-up.
Yes I do. do you have any hesitation when you are giving at gas? If so it won't after the chip also give more rpm longer in gears. Because of the problems I have had I havn't check gas mileage yet.
I haven't noticed any hesitation when l give it gas, but really haven't payed any attention. I really don't care about gas mileage
l just want more HP and torque, also was it hard to install anything l should upfront before l install the chip.
Hey apt... I was just wondering how much of a gain you felt from the headers. I have a diablo delta chip and cold air intake in my truck as well. I now have only 2 cats and a moroso spiral flow tube muffler. I have a 4.6L and 3.55 gears. I was thinking of replacing the gears with either 3.73 or 4.10. But if you felt a considerable amount with the headers...I might have a change in plans. I also have 285-75-16 tires and a tornado fuel saver. I am currently only gettin 14.5mpg and it wouldn't think of spinning tires, even at full throttle! I wish I had too much power!
