1980 f250...I have a failing switch. Takes some jiggling to function. Looked up the switch on some parts house websites and they say same switch 1980-86. Looked up on LMC and they say a different switch for 1980 vs 1981-86. Any pointers? My 80 f250 looks the same as 84 f150
1980 and 1981 are different. They have one black/orange hot wire feeding the switch. The switch has dual circuit breakers inside. The black orange feeds both, one circuit breaker is for the headlights, the other is for the marker lights.
Starting in 82 and up, the black orange fed the headlight switch which has only one circuit breaker, the black orange only feeds the headlights. The marker lights on the later switches are fed with a tan/white wire which comes from a fuse in the fuse box. It goes into the headlight switch which has just a switch to switch the marker lights, no circuit breaker since it's fed with a fused wire.
