I'd pay extra for that option if it came with the pipe out the bumper and on demand regen. Should call it the tailgater package.

Yes I witnessed it yesterday change to "on" and also the tiny icon to the left of the (I) at top center of display lit up green. I am not sure if this will do that all by itself and maybe I do not have to watch the regen PID in a box to see it activate. Would be nice to watch a third PID if thats the case.

Mine has never worked, even after an update. I use the DPF% and soot gpl along with exhaust temps to keep track of mine.

Weird, have you noticed if the icon I mentioned turns green?

FYI. Mine does a regen when the Open-Loop soot % hits 100% - 102% (even though the closed loop is typically below 40%.

Interesting tidbit. If you idle too long or shut off the truck, a regen does not restart. I tried this when my regen was only about 120 seconds old (as a test). It dropped the open-loop soot to 95% from the quick regen and didn't restart.

I need to find a easy way to initiate a regen when I know I'm nearly due and about to take a 30+ minute trip.

Can you explain close- loop and open-loop, Im assuming you are talking passive and active regen? I towed my fifth wheel a few weeks back, really dropped the % but soot kept climbing. Every since then its had 2 regens non towing that is in the 40’s %, it still hasnt come back to the old 100% regen. You can see in my monitor pic I was close to 5gpl of soot but was at 13%, these things are hard to predict.

With my driving, mine has been spot on every 500 miles. I watched the last one on the dpf%, shortly after hitting 100% my mileage dropped to 10 mpg. Took about 20 minutes and stabbing the throttle a couple times did seem to get a jump in percentage drop. One thing I was always told, if you think a regen is active and park the truck, let it idle a bit before shutting down.

Forscan reports both calculated measurements. I suspect open loop is just based on fuel burned or something like that. Closed loop mist have a sensor (pressure on both sides of the DPF maybe).

I did some experiments. Open loop is about 2.5 times faster rising during normal commuting. I can force the closed loop calculation to rise about 5x faster than normal if I intentionally drive sooty. (I.e. lots of heavy tip in over and over instead of driving steady.)

Not sure what your driving style is that you only get 8-15 out of the 6.7. At 70MPH on the freeway, I often see the instantaneous mileage over 20MPG (23-25) of flat and level ground. When it is in regen, it drops to 10.

Ok I’m new to this diesel thing. Thinking hard on getting one. Was reading up in the manual about the ReGen warnings. Like that Edge deal too. Looks nice also. But I guess my worry is that most of my driving will be short trips. The longer trips tend to be less frequent now until I retire and then I will getting miles with TT. But I was seeing like a manual regen (if eqiupped ask dealer) statement. Sure he’s clueless. Warnings if your driving doesn’t allow. Am i going to have to be at points that I have to do some kind of manual regen. Would be nice like i saw someone say above. If I knew it was close to 100% and needed a good drive then I would do it or could at least plan on it. Thanks What’s the plan I guess when your doing a lot of short trips I guess is the question.

Lifetime average on my floats between 16.8 and 17.0, with the city driving, and regens bringing it down.

I have the 3.31 rear end which I'm sure helps some, bur as I said, on the highway at 70 the instantiations meter shows above the 20MPG line most of the time on flat ground (less going up hills, pegged at 30 going down them) for hundred of miles at a time. Then the regen starts and it drops to 10MPG for 20-30 minutes which is what really brings the total average back down.

Just drive it and you'll find that it will be fine. My commute to work is about 2 miles. Today, the outside temp was 20F. My engine oil temp might have hit 100F before I shut it off. As for regens, they don't "need" to complete. Partial regens will happen and its no big deal.

The truck will warn you if the DPF has been unable to regenerate enough to be properly clean. You'll get a message "DPF Full...Drive to Clean." At that point, it would be important to take a decent drive at least 35 minutes or so, preferably at 50mph or more. If you have the DPF screen enabled, you'll see the regeneration is occurring because your "% Full" will actually drop.
