Unhappy Need some advice please

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here, but I have been reading here for years. Thanks to everyone for all of the advice on this site.

I have a 1999 F-150 XLT, V8 4.6L with 264k miles. The engine finally gave out on me yesterday, definitely a rod problem... I am trying to decide on the best action. My preference is to do what I have always wanted and upgrade the engine (rebuild with performance parts, gonna need wiring due to corrosion), transmission and suspension (looking for a few more horses, mpg and smoother ride). I also want to redo the interior. I am curious if anyone has done this? I used to do all the work on my truck, but travel a lot now so I will need to pay to have any of this work done. I would love advice on the following please.
  • What was the over-all process of rebuilding like? (I have not found a good blog or post yet)
  • How much would I need to budget for the Engine, trans and suspension? (I was hope to land in the 10-15k range, may be unrealistic)
  • Any advice of kits or products. (Feel free to PM me)
  • Is it worth it? I love my truck and do not want to get rid of it.
  • Any other general rebuild advice...
Thank you in advance for the advice.
