I have a 2001 f250 7.3 4wd and when my hubs are locked in and I apply break I hear a clunk and if I let off of the break and move very slow I can feel a clunk but when I get moving faster nothing feels normal it only does this when the hubs are locked in and when it is put in 4wd it doesn't do it at all I just replaced my u joints for the four wheel drive earlier this year any ideas?
Clunk could also be splines for drive shaft....they are designed to slide as truckbed goes up and down. They are not on the maint schedule so we all forget to lube them.
unfortunately, there is no jerk fitting so you have to dismantle to lube.
use high pressure grease .
do not use any solvents to clean the splines...that will prevent the grease from sticking properly.
Also, look into the sway bar arms which will usually make significant clunk when the axles are articulating against the truck, like driving over a speed bump at a diagonal.
Yes I made sure everything was greased properly and everything looked fine now it disappeared no problem at all don't know what was going on with it but now it feels fine
