Working 4x4 locking hubs

This evening I worked on my 4x4 locking hubs, to make sure there was grease and smooth operation. I took them off and there was plenty of grease, then I took them both apart, everything had enough grease, next week I'll be really cleaning them off and put fresh grease on them.

When I started to put the locking hubs back together it was acting stupid and not working like they should, finally after about 30 minutes of trying to get them together pulled my laptop out and luckily I have a video reference bookmarked for taking the locking hubs apart and putting them back together. Sgt. Smith Productions - How to keep your Super Duty Alive Series

Of course most of the stuff I done was by the video, except I was doing the last few items the wrong way. I reviewed the video and got everything back together and they felt and operated exactly like they should. I can't wait until next week when I'll be taking them apart and cleaning all the old grease off both the locking hubs and the axle so there is fresh grease.

For cleaning all the old grease off should I mainly use my break cleaner and rag to clean all off so that I will be putting new grease on, and what is the best grease to use for packing and axle for the locking hub?

The best way I can think to clean out the old grease is to take a rag (and plenty of them) and wipe all the old grease out from the locking hubs and axle and then as I put everything back together put grease back in.

I exercise the locking hub at least every 3 to 4 weeks, the first time I just took the locking hub out and put some grease in.

Might could use some Brake Cleaner or Carb cleaner for the Gears and stuff then blow it dry with compressed Air

then just use a Rag to wipe the plastic peice

Gona let you get it all figured out when I get some time I will give it a Go around X-Mas I think things will slow down for me wish it was summertime
