I see there being one of two possibilities. The first, which might make one feel dumb if it's the case, is that the headlight switch is clicked all the way to the left and that keeps the lights on. The second is bad door jamb switches that are somehow keeping the circuit closed. Otherwise I'm not sure what else may keep them on.

If you do not have an OEM owners manual you need to ask lots of questions. That same headlight switch when rotated left will brighten and rotate right will dim your dash lights.
