Thanks Hugh,
I am making it OK I guess. Being in the Army for so long and having to deal with death it kind of makes it little easier to deal with. I still have my weak moments.
Mom wants a red metal instead of shingles. The problem is every dealer close to us is closed today for veterans day and the big box stores don't carry color panels in stock. Today I plan on finishing up the wood work, paint and tar paper. I have never done a metal roof so I looked it up on YouTube last night and it doesn't look that hard. In that case I may have to wait until Monday to finish up.
We finally got all the bad wood replaced. We also got the roof tar papered over in case it rains. I have a tarp full of old shingles and all the old wood to remove off the lawn. I also have to paint the new fascia. Thank goodness my buddy down the street is helping or it would have taken me weeks to do it by myself.
They had a small memorial for my father last night. There were so many people there to see and comfort my step mom. Tons of people knew him because of his business's he use to have and he had lived in Vero Beach for over 50 years.
Did the podcast the memorial for you? Glad your step mom has support.
I spent the weekend and part of last week figuring has timber I going to have to cut. Total of 4500 board ft. 1600 of oak for floors 500 of hickory for cabinets 2500 of pine for walls. It going to be slow more than likely mill about 500 ft at a time. That about all my trailer can handle. I got some clean up work to finish before I start dropping trees. Milling shoud run somewhere around 1200 . Going to have stacks of lumber everywhere.
It was more of a gathering than an official memorial.
I got all the old wood and shingles hauled off from moms house yesterday. We are going to finish up the roof today, I also hope to finish the painting but not a priority. I should have painted yesterday but I just wasn't feeling it. Taking off work today to finish up her place. She said the new wood that I painted looks so good that it makes the rest look old and might need to be painted too, she is going to be the death of me.
Sent an email to my mortgage company about not having to pay property taxes and what about a refund of the money in my escrow. I sent them the requested paperwork so hope to get that in a week or two. I want to use it to finish paying off the cruise, I think my wife has plans to use some of it for Christmas.
They came to me after they found out my dad passed and said if I needed time off it was OK. I have been the top tech for the past 3 months and in the lead this month plus I am the go to guy when they need something done.
They treat me good so no complaints there. I like it and I am good at it buts it's hard work so by Friday I am drained. A short work week next week with Thanksgiving so that will be nice. Maybe I can catch up on the stuff to do around my house then.
