EGR function
I was reading another thread that got closed and saw a bit of misinformation repeated a couple times about the EGR function. It was stated that it's for re-burning unburned gases which is incorrect. The intended function of an egr valve is to introduce exhaust into the combustion chamber as an inert gas which cools combustion temperatures for the purpose of lowering NOx or nitrogen oxides, the element of exhaust that causes photo-chemical haze or smog.
