Figured I would try this out...I have a f350 king ranch 2011. Next step they want to try is changing my gearbox but with it just being a guess I hate to pay 900 for a guess. In a year I have went through 3 powersteering pumps. the ball joints are changed, the u joints are fine. My powersteering is locking up when my truck shifts or if you slam the brakes on, sometimes going around a bend it will lock up then it will unlock, going up the mountain when its shifting it will lock up and unlock, if I pull out to fast or pass someone it locks up and it will unlock when it shifts, if I come to a stop to fast it will lock up.....it will do this for a couple months until it finally stays locked up and they change the pump and it works for a month or 2 and back to the same ****. I've had two different people one a friend that use to work at ford and the other 2 times from the ford dealer luckily since the pump is from ford they keep changing it for free but I have to kids I drive around and I tow let me tell you its no fun being 120lbs and trying to turn a f350 king ranch with 8 ft bed and a trailer. If anyone has any suggestions on other things to check or if they think it could be the gear box would be help thanks in advance.
both times it would go in and out for a couple months then after 2-3 months the pump would finally quit....I guess its not locked up theres just no powersteering so its really tight. it got flushed was hoping just the first one was just a bad pump but then it went to ford the 2nd time and that one started messing up within 2months got it changed end of may and by july it was going in and out but just this week it finally quit and wont turning back on its going in Thursday for the pump, get flushed, and check all the lines. Then decided on a gearbox..... only have 4 keys on one ring.
