After setting for a while, my factory 79 power steering pump has seen better days. If replacing, I figure perfect time to upgrade. Has anyone had any experience with a good(maybe Saginaw) pump that was fairly easy swap? Also, no matter how much I "flush" the system, fluid is milky, assume that's on account of water. How would I go about removing all of that contaminated fluid out of my gear box? Rebuild?
saginaw pumps are awesome. youll need to fabricate a bracket. you could try flushing your system. type F atf might be what your pump calls for. i put axle on stands and turn wheel lock to lock with engine off and with engine on. if theres lots of bubbles let it sit for the day or overnite and do the lock to lock turning again untillall bubbles dissapear. it can be a pain sometimes.
