I have a 1993 f150 with a 5.8 and an AOD transmission. I took out the bad 5.0 and put in a 5.8 junk yard said it came out of 1995 f250. I got a computer for a f250 for that year, just about everything is new on this engine. Idles a little rough. When driving, on the throttle it runs good, but when trying to maintain a speed like 50 for example it surges, just like someone is pushing a releasing the gas. I feel like a cowboy on a bull. TPS = New, IAC = new, computer = new, electrical thing on dr side firewall = new.
On the computer I ordered it from a company that makes them, but I had no VIN or the old computer from donor truck... could this be the issue... I am at a total loss...
Thanks Keith
You sure it's an AOD just checking because I would think E4OD or if it an AOD is the cable adjusted correctly.
I am sure the original type of transmission so It would bolt up and use same plugs and cables. I got advice from some people on how to match it up to the new 351 since they weren't matched normally except in the 89 crown vic... Jus looked for adjustment on the cable but i didn't see any spot to adjust or I just looked over it.... I will look up more info on ajusting the TV cable I think its called... Thanks
In the Crown Vics, 351s only came with the Variable Venturi carburetor up to 1991. (I used to own a 1988 so equipped.) The EFI plenum and so forth wouldn't fit under the hood. Ford dropped the ball on that combination. Hottest setup available in 1984, but EFI would have been nice. They had a CFI setup they could have used, and still fit.
