Transmission issues

Hey guys I have a 91 f150, 302 with an aod which has been swapped from a 5.8 and e40d. I bought the truck like this. The truck doesn't seem to shift out of first. After doing some research I figured out that the tranny harness from the aod is different from the e40d. So my question is can I run the aod with the wiring harness and computer from an e40d with the push button manual over drive. Any advice would be great thanks guys

Yes you can put the AOD in there.. but you won't have any control over the trans because it is not computer controlled. You will need a TV cable and the throttle bracket for it and a specific 28oz/AOD specific flexplate as well, DO NOT use the flexplate on the E4OD or you will destroy the trans.

It has the tv cable and proper flex plate. I have adjusted the tv cable by taking slack out at full throttle. Seems to shift into 1st 2nd and d but always seems to be the same as first

Try taking a look at this video for the proper way to adjust the TV cable:

Thanks, I watched the video and tried the adjustment but still not shifting. I've been thinking about a stuck shift valve, or is it probably toast?

If the TV cable was not properly adjusted the transmission may be toast already. It's a critical adjustment....
