Question Step Van Model

I have a 1968 Ford Step Van that I am not sure of the Model in order to find parts. I believe it is a P350 but not sure. The VIN is GSOWLC88995 but everywhere I go to enter this it says is incorrect. Anyone know where to get parts? Ford is no help but NAPA seems to but not sure if is a P350.

1968 Ford Step Van. Model ??????

Step Van

What is that emblem on front hood of that beautiful piece of step van history? Did Ford make that body? or is it perhaps a Gruman or utilimaster? I guess my thought is maybe you are looking at the body's # and there is another # for the rolling chassis? I found Ford's factory vin # riveted under the dash board which came out very quickly in my utilimaster. Have you called mill supply at 800 888 5072 to inquire as to these #'s? Doesn't P3something usually mean GM???

No.
Ford did not supply the body. The OP originally posted the wrong VIN (post #1), said GSOWLC88995 instead of the correct VIN: G50WLC88995.

This is a P500 'rolling chassis' with a diesel engine.

G50 = P500 diesel; W = Dorset 363 cid 6 cylinder diesel; L = Michigan Truck Assembly Plant; C88995 = 1968.

The OP has two other threads on this topic in the 1967/72 F100 and larger truck forum (one of which he hijacked).

I did a search for 1968 step van to match pictures and came up with this info and believe it is a Boyertown body

Step Van Replacement Parts

Though this is older, it has the front hood badge like yours

And last, here is some history for Boyertown with a pic similar to your van near the bottom.
The firm that would later become the Boyertown Carriage Works was founded by a Berk’s County native named Jeremiah Sweinhart in 1872

I called Mill Supply and they said they don't have anything back to 1968. I may have a line with NAPA parts though a dn will check for another VIN with the vehicle. It looks like ia a Ford chassis and a Grumman body?

I have found out this is a Ford Chasis with VIN G50WLC88995 A Boyerton Auto Works Body Works with Serial Number MAP165H70051568 See the image attached. I found out that Boyerton was sold to Beach Boy Trolley Corporation sometime around 1994

Correct the history article I posted for you states:
Boyertown’s Trolley business was purchased by Arkansas businessman William Placek, who relocated it to Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas. Renamed the Boyertown Logan Body Works, the factory was located in a small factory located outside of Booneville on Hwy 10 East & Mario Del Pero St. The firm went out of business sometime in 1994.
The assets of the Battronic Truck Corporation were purchased by Thomas E. McKean, a small limousine and bus operator located in Pensacola, Florida. He later acquired the rights to the Boyertown Trolleys and combined them into the Boyertown Trolley Corporation.
Located at 3811 W. Nine Mile Rd., Pensacola, McKean continues to stock parts for Battronics, Trolleys and even a few for the firm’s delivery vans. McKean also operates Beach Boy / Beach Bum Trolley, a firm that specializes in the sale and maintenance of used Boyertown Trolleys and Step Vans.

Good eye Anna. You must have used some good search terms to narrow it down. Did the gauge set remind you of Ford somehow?

I just put in 1968 step van and scanned the pictures real fast looking for the grill and the nose has a different angle from most step vans. Once I saw the first pic, I searched for Boyertown step van. I use picture searches a good bit. It is much faster many times then scanning through regular search posts..

Yes, that gauge set reminds me of a Fairlane I wish I still owned. There are quite a few cars I wish I had never sold.. I would have a small mint!

Yes as I called them and waiting for Mr. McKean to call me back as he evidently is an expert in these vehicles. Not sure if that master cylinder was a stock part or some type of add on. I can see why I got a great deal on this as if it has no brakes is not that good of a deal.

What do you need, master cylinder? If so I'd remove it to see if it has any identification stamped on it and go from there. If you can't find one you might be able to rebuild the original.
