Mine is an '87 with 145,000 on it. Engine basics (compression, oil pressure, etc.) are fine. All sensors and idle air bypass have been replaced in the last year. Plugs, wires, ignition module are new. It runs great once its warmed up, but when cold it acts/feels/sounds like its only firing on five cylinders.
Can anybody give me some advice as to how to figure out what is going on? I'll appreciate any help--
While engine is cold, start it and using an insulating tool disconnect 1 spark plug wire then observe if engine get worse or continue same. Reconnect and test next cylinder, do same for all.
If engine get worse, this cylinder is working. If engine gets worse this is the problematic cylinder. Double check for spark plug, wire, distributor cap.
If everythink is OK, then make a compresion test with engine cold and then with engine hot, compare readings.
