Question 97 ford 7.3 power stroke

Looking for suggestions on the problem im having, stopped on any incline idling when i take off it dies or i have to pump the throttle. Runs fine down highway and i disconnected the exhaust back pressure valve, replaced the injector pump a year ago, replaced fuel filter is there another pump on this or any ideas. Thanks

Didn't you have another thread about this? Its best just to use one thread. These trucks do not have an injector pump, its a hydraulic system.

If using a windows computer left click on your users name in the Post. A window will drop down and one of the options is "find all posts by teter". Here is your original post ...

We have a "High Pressure Oil Pump" HPO which fires the injectors and a mechanical fuel pump in the valley of the engine. Does the issue occur sitting (idling) downhill or uphill? Incline means the same to my simple mind. Also is this just a little incline or something more like a mountain grade pass.

It does it only on a uphill incline at a stop or idle , little and mountain grade.

Only thing that comes to mind at this time is possibly a cracked oil sump pump pickup tube. When inclined up if the tube is cracked it can suck air and starve the HPO pump, killing the engine. Of course a low oil level in the pan would also cause this, we need about 14 quarts of oil including filter. I'm assuming you already know this?
