Can the mechanical fuel pump be replaced with an electric pump and if necessary, pressure regulator?
If so, what is the delivery pressure of the mechanical pump?
What is the volumn and does it have a bypass/return that needs to reman functional for the computer?
Reason for the inquiry is that my pump is leaking and this appears to be a commonproblem of age on the pump. Also, it is not an easy replacement job.
After the first one it is easier. Maybe 5 hours or 6. You would probably invest that much time in a conversion. There was a thread on it a while back. If you do a search you can find it. I believe the pump presure is 40 to 70. But I am no expert. Maybe someone else will be along with more info.
the electric regulated return isnt a bad project. gonna run ya about 700 if you use a factory superduty pump. 68psi works best. if your not gonna run bigger injectors its really not worth doing.
im runnin electric on mine.
got a mallory 110fi pump, dahl 150 filter, areomotive marine regulator, -10an feed lines and -8 returns and a sumped tank. ive got probably close to $1000 in this system but it will feed b codes.

I tend to agree. Especially when the alternative is spend $80 on a stock replacement that will last another 100,000 miles.
What one could do is add a small pusher pump back at the selector valve to keep the diaphragm side of the stock pump from having to work so hard pulling the fuel up.
