Ive had a pulley making some noise for a while and want to deal with it. I looked thru the tech folder and couldnt find anything. If memory serves me right I have read somewhere some one replacing the bearings on the pulleys with part numbers. the water pump was replaced with a bullet proof one a few years ago so I dont think it is that. This is for a 2005 6l. Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure replacing the bearings would be super efficient or cost effective. When my clutch went on my AC pump I checked my idler and it was loose as well. Went to the local NAPA and tried to get a bearing for it and they didn't seem to have one in stock. Ended up just getting a new idler to put in along with the AC clutch/pulley assembly while I had it torn down. The idler and AC pump would be my first stop in the noise category. If I had to do over, I'd probably go ahead and replace the AC clutch/pulley if I were in it far enough for an idler, or even a belt for that matter. Super easy to replace and if it locks up due to bearing failure, it won't turn over (at least mine didn't).
Thanks! I thought we had a part number for the bearings on the pulleys but I cant find them. That is a good price. Will prob go that route. Cant be that hard to do.
