Squeeky Pully

Ive had a pulley making some noise for a while and want to deal with it. I looked thru the tech folder and couldnt find anything. If memory serves me right I have read somewhere some one replacing the bearings on the pulleys with part numbers. the water pump was replaced with a bullet proof one a few years ago so I dont think it is that. This is for a 2005 6l. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure replacing the bearings would be super efficient or cost effective. When my clutch went on my AC pump I checked my idler and it was loose as well. Went to the local NAPA and tried to get a bearing for it and they didn't seem to have one in stock. Ended up just getting a new idler to put in along with the AC clutch/pulley assembly while I had it torn down. The idler and AC pump would be my first stop in the noise category. If I had to do over, I'd probably go ahead and replace the AC clutch/pulley if I were in it far enough for an idler, or even a belt for that matter. Super easy to replace and if it locks up due to bearing failure, it won't turn over (at least mine didn't).

Rockauto sells the motorcraft parts seperate or as a kit,

Idler, tensioner and a belt.

I've seen pulleys with a crack in the hub squeak also but they usually break pretty quick once they are cracked.

When I went on the rockauto site they only have a Dayco Kit 890BCK available for 2005 diesel. No OEM Kit. Any comments on Dayco Parts. Thanks

I'm gonna look at it this weekend and make sure I get the right parts and install new pulleys and a belt.
