I cannot rate the tint but if you do it clean the window real good with distilled water and a few drops of dish soap. Use the same solution to wet the window good before appling the tint and then squeezee the bubbles out. You can stick it to the out side of the window and cut it to size an 1/8" smaller than the window.

It's all in the application... clean, clean, clean. I used to tint my own windows, but it's soo frustrating to do and soo easy to mess up. The local tinting shops will tint a regular cab pickup for $100 with a lifetime warranty - that's the route I went...

yes it is very easy and at the same time can be frustrating, as stated above cleanliness is what counts when doing that work.

when you put it on the outside and cut it to fit as 73 said, make sure you have the correct side at the window down or you will wind up with the opposite cut when you peel off the backing.

the wetter it is the better it lays out

Those bubbles are caused by dirt on the window, -it just wasn't clean enuf.

I have seen a lot of failures when the film is applied over a defroster grid also. If you have one of those get it done by professionals.

I've used tint from Pep Boys and it turned out very well, but as everyone said, it's all in the application. The flatter the window, the easier it is. Also, access to the edge of the window makes it REALLY easy, I tinted the windows of an old Metro convertible I had (no frame around the window) and it turned out perfect with relatively no skill involved. Like these guys said before, get it real wet and squeegee out all the bubbles. If you mix some dish soap in with some water and use a spray bottle, it will be easy to wet the tint and not have it stick to everything.

I've thought about it many times, but when a local shop will do everything for $100 is it worth the frustration? That and now PA doesn't "legally" allow any tint other than factory

Good points Lariat, I stopped doing muffler work when the shops would do the whole job for just a little more than I could buy the parts and I didn't have to get filthy with rust flakes in my eyes to boot!

Well, part of the fun of getting new parts for the car is doing it yourself, but in the case of tinting, it's not that much fun. It's usually $150 in my town which is a bit much in my opinion if it's an easy enough job to do myself. I'd definitely let someone else do it for $100 though.

most states do not allow window tinting on the driver or passenger side window's, depending how the law is written most tickets are beatable in court. most laws state that it can only be a certain % dark. there are not a lot of cop's runing around out there with the correct gauge to determine the % of the film shade
