Here is a link that lists the states. How current is it? Your guess is good as mine...

Interesting link, Marauder92V. If that is true, then it looks like my dealer could have matched the rears. It says Texas allows 25% for both. It also says there has to be a sticker of legality on the driver's window between the tint and the glass - don't think there is one there.
eta - went and checked the driver's window and it's there, barely visible from the inside only - a tiny bit of what looks like embossing on the film itself, has the Ford emblem and a "Carlite Certified" statement plus some other words I couldn't quite make out.
I may take it back to the place I had it done and ask why they didn't match. That was what I wanted. I read the Texas DPS site and it also says 25% for both as of 2009. Hmmmm.

When I talked to the place I want to get them done at, they also said they couldn't match the front side windows to the rear side windows because they would be too dark.
Looks like it shouldn't be a problem if the rear side windows are at 35% and we are allowed to have 25% on the front side windows (in Texas)

I figured I would tell them to put 30% on the front doors....figured it would be close enough I wouldn't be able to tell.

In the past, the language of 547.609 of the Texas Transportation Code was interpreted by the Department as requiring one label for one car regardless of how many windows had sunscreening devices applied to them. As a result, in Chapter 21 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) we have only required that one label be attached to the rearmost, bottom corner of the driver’s side window of the vehicle. The only information required on those labels by the Department was the manufacturer’s name and a statement indicating that the sunscreening device met our standards (“Complies with DPS” or “Complies with 37 Texas Administrative Code (TAC)”).
