I had read an earlier post about the 2017 6.7 starting immediately with remote start. Normally, you turn your key over and wait for the glow plug symbol to go away. Takes about 3 seconds. The consensus was that the plugs just heat up super quick with remote start. Has anyone found any new, exact info on this process? Just makes me paranoid. This forum/ site is AWESOME!
The glow plugs heat up the same no matter if you are using remote start or are in the cabin starting the truck. They are virtually instant on. No 3 second wait. There might be a slight delay in extreme cold weather. Otherwise it will start with similar speed as a gasser.
The plugs can go to over 2,000 degrees F in less than 2 seconds. That's HOT!
I noticed the same thing on my 2017 - starts immediately. My 2016 would wait 3 or 4 seconds, sometimes longer if really cold, and then start. Makes me wonder if Ford has it set correctly on these 17s.
When I manually start at garage temps, you can barely see the wait to start, even at minus 20 C the delay is very short. These are very different glow plugs than previous, they get hot faster and stay on for a bit longer as it's an emissions issue. There is nothing wrong with the truck or programming that it can start this fast.
