Have you checked your nuetral safty switch? or if its a manual trans your clutch switch? if they go bad they wont let it crank. you positive its not solenoid itself? DW

OK...I just skimmed the replys to your post, but I didnt see anything where you replaced the soleniod. I had this prob where it wouldnt start with the key but if I jumped the solenoid it would start. Got a new one and all is fine again. Just a though...or I am going blind and didnt see it.

Sorry i had to go back and check somthing. the wire that makes your solenoid kick in, is the single wire connected to th (S) terminal, put a test light on the wire and turn your key, if it light up when you turn the key, then replace the solenoid, if not the trace it back to the fuses nutral safty switches ect. but if you jump a wire from the pos+ on the battery to the (S) terminal then it should try to start if the slenoid is good. hope this helps. heres a tempory fix for you, go get you a PUSH button switch and some 10-12 gage wire, and run a wire from a constant 12V power to the swith and then a peice from the switch to the S terminal on the solenoid, Then just turn your key on and push the button to crank the starter, aleast you wont have to jump it each time, untill you can trace down the problem.
