4 link bars...trim?

wanting to shorten my bars on my 4 link to locate it inside the frame rails, rather than buy new bars, id like to cut the existing bars down. the bars one fixed end w/bushing the other is the threaded adjustable end.

thoughts on cutting the fixed end, shorten the bar 3-4" and attached the fixed end? is there a better way? Is this making the bar weaker in any way?

thanks

My advice would be to cut down the bars on the threaded end, measure the inside diameter and buy new threaded weld in bungs with the appropriate thread pitch. Then weld them in and be done.

Check

If it's just threaded inside the tube, why not just cut it off and have a machine shop cut new threads. Also I have done on tierods and such is cut the section out of the center and get a plug the right size to go inside and weld it back together. Get a plug about 3 inches long, leave a gap when you slide it together so the plug also gets welded at the butt weld but also drill a hole in each side to get a rosette weld inside to the plug. Finish it off with a flap wheel on the grinder and nobody will see it.

Great solution, I'm new at this obviously so asking for multiple ideas makes it easier!
