Has anybody on here with a 5.4L used Performance Distributors replacement coils? I have a 2010 f150 that has some hesitation and shuttering here and there, especially on hard acceleration and I'm guessing it's related to spark. I'm going to replace spark plugs, but wondering about upgrading the coils while I'm there. I've heard from a few people that these trucks/engines don't take too kindly to modifications. I used their one-wire distributor on my 86 f150 and loved the product and working with the company. Just looking for some advice and experience, thanks.
I have a heavily modded 4.6 2v. It did not like aftermarket COPs. Motorcraft only. That being said, I am going with Granatelli COPs on a 5.4 3v build about to commence.

I would stick with Motorcraft coils if you ever need to replace one.
Change the boots/springs while changing the plugs which might be your misfiring under load.
How many miles on the plugs/boots?
Not sure of the part no., I think the DENSO 671-8172 spark plug boots fit your year ($54/8 on ebay or $50/8 Rock Auto).
I've run thru a couple of sets of Denso boots and they work well.
You might look into getting an OBDII port (blue-tooth or Wifi) adapter and software like Forscan to identify a misfiring cylinder that does not set a code.
I would like to think the plugs have been changed, but I'm not confident in that. I bought the truck with 127K miles on it. I will stick with the factory stuff I guess. I had heard what you guys have mentioned in regards to the trucks not playing nice with aftermarket coils. Thanks for the responses.
I would only replace the spark plugs and the boot on each COP. The boots cracking and leaking spark to the block are the common reasons for misfires even though the COP is still good.
