ditching the flipped single leaf suspension for a weld on 4 link kit.['60 f100] Rather than tear out both sides of the leaf, I'm considering removing one side at a time, keeping the rear end in place, then tack welding the 4link to the axle/frame, then repeating for the other side. this way everything is in place and no major measurements/adjustments should be needed.
Before doing this, i to remove the shackle brackets from the frame but don't want the springs to be under a dangerous amount of tension when the brackets become loose. my question: what is safest, non load bearing position of the springs, frame on jack stands or tires. rear axle is flipped?
When I put new springs in my truck I raised my truck up at the frame until the wheels were off the ground then brought it back down until the tires were just touching. Then put jack stands under the frame at that height. I had no problems pulling the old springs and putting the new ones back in.
Just curious, why are you ditching the mono leaf? I just put mono leaf in my '57 in the front and the rear.
FLHX, I like the mono leaf and definitely a cool stance for the truck, but want to improve my ride and create a better platform for the 5.0 that will be dropped in.
