The "Ign" post on my 6v coil is loose. I can turn it about 1/8 turn back and forth. Does this mean the coil is bad? The motor recently started to exhibit signs similar to vapor lock and I'm wondering if this coil could be the culprit. Thoughts?
I think I got to the root of the problem. We had the carb and fuel pump rebuilt and I installed a good coil. Truck ran real nice - for about 15 minutes and then it started running badly again. After we got it home we disconnected the fuel line at the tank valve to check for flow.
Nothing. Zip. Not a trickle. We blew some air thru the valve and the fuel ran as normal.
Any suggestions on how to thoroughly clean the fuel tank?
i steamed clean mine and , put a chain Inside and shook it as best i could . done that for a few hours, until nothing came out. then i sent it to a old guy who had some red stuff to cover the Inside. the name of the product i,m unsure but the empty can is at the shop. suppose to seal pin holes and seal up all the loose rust scabs.i did use it afterwards but not much. its sitting empty in my garage.
Steam cleaning and a chain sounds like it should work. Not sure yet if I want to coat the inside. I found something called Red-Kote that looks effective. Seems like it would be hard to ensure all surfaces inside are covered and all excess coating is drained.
