Interesting timing. I found myself in your situation last week. I wanted a plow strobe and explored all options. I really liked my magnetic $30 strobe I used for years. Recon makes a well reviewed universal strobe kit for lamp housings. $300ish I think. I could not find if it would fit with the 2017's. I almost ordered but was not comfortable using a dremel on LED headlight housing or LED rear housing with BLIS.
Considered a back rack, Acari third brake adapter, etc. I choose the Ford factory option for now, should arrive today as a matter of fact. Will install the third brake housing assembly, not sure if I will install the hood mounted ones.
stay tuned...I am putting a pair of Whelen IONs in the grill, back window and micro IOns on the hitch bar...plus a flasher unit to wig wag the rear running and reverse lights. Siren with air horn also. All thru the upfitter switches.
Hello, just did mine. Amber front and rear, strobes n more. It was kinda sketchy drilling into them lights. Only suggestion I have for you is use to shop vacs and hold the light upside down when drilling. First use a 2” holesaw then a 1”. They are bright as hell at night and ok in the daylight. I used the kit, comes with 2 lights and the flasher, wired up real easy to my switches. Good luck.
