In the wake of the multiple fires raging in Northern California I hope that all our FTEers are safe. I know that Jimmy (underthebridgejim) lives in that general area as well as others. Many of the local first responders are in the hurricane areas and are not available to help here at home so be safe.
I was out walking the dog this AM and the downtown SF is covered in smoke. Keep in mind the fires are 30+ miles away. This time of year is always the worst for fires. We don't have rain from May to October which is great for camping but not so much for fire prevention. These fires are very hard to fight and the firemen are often waiting on a break from mother nature in terms of wind.
Local news showed pictures of Disneyland today...sky was orange and smokey. Park was still open. Lots of high dollar homes in the Yorba Linda area, John Force Race Station is right there off the 91. If anyone has been to the F100 Western Nationals, it too is in the fire zone. I too had hoped that Jimmy would have checked in...
I saw in one of the reports on Fox News or the Weather Channel of a burned neighborhood in Napa a '51/52 Ford truck that had burned. They didn't say exactly where it was.
Jimmy lives in Paradise Ca.. up north of Sacramento 2.5 hours
drive from Napa. I don't see anything on the California Fire Map
too close up there. I'm hoping Jimmy is off camping enjoying the
Fall weather & his old Ford truck.
Just saw a CNN report that the newscaster was walking thru a burnt out garage in SANTA ROSA (may be the same one you saw Pete) that had what was left of a 48-52 Ford Truck. The bed was melted the cab looked like it was tilted forward as if the gas tank blew, the tires were gone and it was sitting on the rims. There was little left of anything salvageable for the home. Hopefully the people got out OK.
Prayers for everyone out there - Our members bring it closer - I just want to see them and their families safe along with anything they can bring along
PLEASE if you get an evacuation notice get the heck out of their - your Life is not worth trying to save anything with a garden hose
We are safe now,I just got phone and internet service back, one fire made some runs up the Canyon a mile or so from our house but was beat back by our amazing Fire crews who are stretched very thin, and some had been on a 48 hr shift when they got the call of our fire and came anyway, wow those guys are good. I think Napa, the Anaheim hills, and a few other fires are still way out of control , there were two fires that have merged in the foot hills maybe 20 miles from here. Plus lets not forget the hurricane and shooting victims. Thanks for thinking of us. Stay safe and may God Bless.
