Fuel sender replace with tube type sender

Hello y'all,

Did anybody replace his in-cab fuel sending unit with a tube type sending unit maybe ? I'm considering to do so, but was wondering about your thoughts on it.

https://www.vdo-instruments.com/sens...tube-type.html

Thanks on forehand,
Martin

Hey Martin, sorry it got left for dead awhile back!
I do like the tube type units, and will have to find out who our vendor is. Pretty sure it's not VDO direct, but we're now using them with our stainless Bronco tanks.

So far so good for us, but because they are somewhat "length specific" I need to order one deep enough for my big rear tank that's going on the F350. The one we carry is too short for me, but so far they're working out well for our replacement tanks.

What size do you think you'll need for your tank? It's pretty tall, as tanks go, correct? But is the sending unit boss on the side of the tank, or on the top? I can't remember exactly how the in-cab tanks are oriented. Got a pic of yours by any chance, as a refresher?

Thanks

Paul

Thanks Bill. Looks like it would be easy to mount one then.

I should have asked first martinkik, but what is wrong with your existing one that you want to change? Needing to replace it anyway, and just wanting to try something different? Or actually have had issues with standard replacements in the past?

Hi guys,

Thanks for answering and thinking along with me !

The reason for the change is that I've got better experiences with tube-style's that with float-style's. Used them in boats before and the existing unit is broken, so needs to be replaced.

Sorry for my late reply, but I just took a well deserved holiday with the inlaws !

Best regards,
Martin
