1994 E350, 5.8L, engine issue
It needed an alternator when I bought it. I also changed the water pump and all the hoses, back flushed the system and did new plugs, cap, wires and rotor, plus an oil/filter change. The plugs had more wear than any set I have ever seen, but were all a nice tan color and showed no evidence of fouling. The engine doesn't make any strange noises; it appears to be mechanically sound.
The issue I am having is a stumbling or miss at idle and when attempting to maintain a set speed (say 35 mph). I also get a very small amount of pinging when accelerating. I have located and repaired a broken vacuum line to the EGR valve and another to the idle air control valve.
I would appreciate any help with what direction I should take from here.
Pulling codes with an OBD1 scanner, Check fuel pressure at the rail under doghouse.
I have same year and engine (but E150) and had same problem, My issue was leaking capacitors on the computer and a bad Ignition control module mounted to the drivers side fender.
You can pull the computer and take off the cover and check for leaking capacitors really easy.
I am not saying that is your issue but its good to check out, because thats a common problem with the mid 90s E150 and F series.
Wish my van looked that good.

Heres a link:
*I'm wondering how many times I've posted the link the past couple years

Go threw and Replace all the old rubber vacuum lines, 6 feet of 5/32" line will do it all, it's not the mileage, it's the Age of the vehicle.
Although, a vacuum leak most likely shows up as an high idle.
If you got a stumble at idle, first, have you ran fresh gas threw the engine?
Check out the IAC, TPS and check the EGR for a sticky valve. Use the link above for testing.
I agree with NICKSAN on testing the fuel pressure, it could be a bad fuel pump, if you have changed out the rail fuel filter first.
Checking the ECU is something that should be done, if not first, after checking the above sensors, the capacitor do leak and cause all kinds of problems, again, it's age, not mileage thing.
With all the plugs/wires and such, did you check the timing?
I'll check the rest and report back, probably after the weekend.
Thanks again.
