I've been looking online and Amazon trying to find clear cab lights for my 2017. They all show to fit but when asking sellers they say they only fit to 2016. I'm looking to replace the stock covers to clear with amber bulbs without getting an entire kit that requires rewiring. Anybody have advice on where to look?
You can not just remove the housing on the clearance lights on the '17. You have to replace the whole light. Recon has a kit, but I'm not sure how much it is to swap over.
its not a simple (colored) lens replacement - the '17s cab / clearance lights are one piece, and as such the replacement is of the entire (molded) assembly, lens, base and all.
removal of the lights requires removal of a (stubborn) foam gasket (on job 2+) truck and the recon replacement kits may contain new gaskets.
earlier produced '17s may not have the gasket and could be a source of leaks, some have successfully applied silicon/form-a-gasket upon reinstallation of the OE or Aftermarket lights.
Thanks for all the help. Great write-up ktm, that is very helpful as I was concerned about removing the entire assembly before. Those look great on your truck!
