I have a 1989 Ford F250 4x4 with a 5.8 in it.
I replaced the tanks and pumps with tanks and pumps out of a 1990 f250,
for the 1990 fords im aware that the fuel pumps had components in one unit, So I removed the components of the frame, and I rerouted the fuel lines but now I got gas coming out right from the rear tank.. but its weak but the front pump was working but now it dosent pump gas to the engine it pumps it to the rear tank which is empty. should I bypass the rear tank? or put the old pump back on the frame?
I need help asap
I think that your 89 had a high pressure pump on the frame and low pressure pumps in each tank. That is the way my 88 is. If the 90 in tank pumps are not high pressure pumps, then you would need the pump and distribution block stuff from the original set up to make things work and get the return lines delivering fuel to the correct places.
The rear tank probably has a bad check valve in the fuel delivery module. A very common problem on the 1990 and later F-series gas engine trucks with dual tanks.
The bad valve allows fuel from the front pump to fill the rear tank.
The 1990 and later F-series gas engines trucks have a high pressure pump in each tank. Your setting yourself up for failure by installing the 1989 inline high pressure pump. Completely redundant and unnecessary.
okay I removed that, my regulator was dead I think because I had pressure in the fuel lines right up to the regulator but.. no fuel in the fuel rail, I replaced it with a newer one.
Hopefully I can get the truck started.
I need to sell it since I got no money left lol
