93 F-150 shifter problem

My shifter is sloppy,. I can wiggle it all around. I don't know where the problem is. I think its somthing up top on the steering column. But I dont know how to even access it to check it. I don't think anything is bent underneath. I was. Having a problem before trying to shift it in park

Probably shifter tube broke or bushings just plain wore out, easy fix
1.pull covers off column 3 phillips from underneath-need to remove ign lock cylinder-use a small punch with key in on position to depress release pin. After covers are off reinstall cylinder so you can switch off ignition while replacing shift tube assy.
2. drop colum-4 nuts hold it up
3.use suitable small pry bar or screwdriver to pop off shift cable from tube assy.
4.bolts holding tube assy to colum are torx remove them and shift interlock bracket. then remove assy take to bench.
5. there are 2 drive pins holding everything together remove them transfer needed parts to new tube and reinstall.
tube assy is available at autozone, napa, advance etc about 30 to 50 bucks. It took longer to type this than to do the job takes.

Make sure you check the T30 screws first.
If loose tighten them.

At the bottom of the shift tube the a bracket that holds the cable it is held on the the shift tube with 2 torx head bolts these are known for coming loose. Check those and tighten as needed. Subford beat me with the reply but his picture is spot on.
