Pop on start
Hi All. I've been searching to see if I can find the same symptom I'm having. Truck is running good, no codes at all, temps are fine, starts and runs fine, just one little thing that has me worried based on my searching.
Every time I start it, cold, hot or in between, it sounds like there's a little "pop" or thump in the exhaust. It only does it immediately after starting, no other time. It has been doing this since I owned it, so nothing new.
From what I have read it could be a flat lifter that pumps up after starting or a bent push rod.
Suggestions on what to check? I'm just starting to research this myself.
It's a '05 with 226k on the clock.

It doesn't pop until after it's actually running. I'll video it and post as soon as I get the truck back. My son borrowed it today.

A lot of us, myself included, feel a "thump" right after startup or sometimes during cranking. This has been attributed to the Blend Door in a lot of cases.
Mine only does this during the colder months of the year. It's enough of a thump that you can feel it in the seat and if your hands are on the wheel. It was concerning until I found out mine was the blend door.
