How loud are headers?
I just got a Gibson exhaust for my 3.0, but I'm also thinking of getting a set of performance headers. Anybody ever tried this mod on a Ranger? And how much louder was the truck after the headers? I don't want this truck getting too loud, a nice low sound is what I prefer. Any help would be appreciated.

Changing the headers won't appreciably change the volume of the sound the truck gives off, except at idle.
It will give off a "tinny" sound that will be noticeable at idle.
At any engine speed much above idle, the tinniness will get swallowed up by the sound coming from the tailpipe.
I have not tried it on either of my Rangers, but have done it twice on Chevy small block V-8s, once in a Chevelle and once in a K-10.
