I have a quick question, on a 1979 351 modified V8 M1 ring can I use a vacuum actuated heater valve connected to the a vacuum source and when not needed pull the hose and have the valve close? The motor has bypass ability right?

The heater water valve (D4AZ-18495-A [replaced D1AZ-18495-A] / Motorcraft YG-136) is vacuum activated, but...
The only 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79 Bronco's that came with it, were either equipped with factory installed integral A/C or the Hi/Lo Comfort Vent system.
Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are in the same panel as the heater controls.
This valve is a notorious POS, as it can get stuck in either the closed or open or partially open positions.
So I am Assuming that yes it has a bypass when the valve is shut., Correct? I replaced the valve with an aftermarket one, without thinking on how to actuate it. It does not have Hi lo and it had a 390 in it previously. It obviously is in one mode now for the winter. But for next summer can he just hook up to a vacuum source to shut hit h2o from being in the cab, since he doesn't have AC and Ala. Summers are said to be hot?
BUT, I had trouble with these leaking after you changed from winter to summer. So I went to home depot and picked up a quarter turn ball valve and a couple of nipples to fit hose.

To answer your question yes the 335 Series (302C, 351C, 351M, 400) engines have a bypass all modern OHV engines have a bypass. You just can't see it in the 335 Series engines cause it is under the T Stat.
