Am I the only one having issues with Apple Car and iOS11? I have not been impressed with Sync 3 since I purchased my truck but this is enough to drive me crazy! It won’t send texts or access my Amazon music app anymore without me physically opening the app on my phone first. I didn’t have either of these issues until I updated to iOS11.
On your phone, go into settings/bluetooth then click the info (I with a circle around it) icon next to your truck's name in the BT list. In the menu that comes up below forget this device you'll see "show notifications." Turn this on. This will allow your phone to push text messages through BT to your truck. In your truck's settings, you can set an incoming text to make a sound, be automatically read, or to just have a pop up message asking if you'd like to read or hear it. I opted for the 3rd. This all works fine with iOS 11 and SYNC 3 for me. Not sure about your other issues as I don't use CarPlay or Amazon music...
I have noticed it will not allow me to change the song using spotify with my steering wheel or dash controls. I have to change the song on the phone it self.
I've been having two specific issues with my iPhone 6+ since I got the truck. First, the audio input from the phone wouldn't take over from the current source after selecting it (no matter how many times I switched), and having to physically open the app on the phone to get it to login to/play from music apps.
Rebooting the phone generally helps, but this hasn't been an issue specific to iOS11 for me.
Maybe its just me but I find it really annoying that my ringer gets turned on full loud volume every time I'm in the truck. Then I get out and its blasting at full volume when I get a call.
Also I find it annoying that it connects to "media" bluetooth too which pretty much silences all notifications on the phone unless you manually turn it off in the Iphone every time.
The ringer volume is an iPhone only issue. That has been an issue since day one with any version of SYNC and an iPhone. Mine did it with SYNC 2, 2.2, and now 3. You'd think Ford would have got this fixed in 3 versions or Apple would have it with fixed with iOS 11 but nope...

Never had this issue with my Sync 2 in my old F150 or the wife's explorer. Or are you talking about Sync 3 versions 2.2 and 3?

That is correct, SYNC 3 v2.2 and v3. I started a thread about this last Feb or so and everyone else with an iPhone had the same experience. Something about the iPhone and SYNC in our trucks does't play nice together in this regard.

I'm not 100% sure on this, so correct me if it's wrong.
I thought that if you adjusted ringer and caller volume on the head unit while the call is taking place, the last volume setting selected will also be used for any future phone use.
It really should be an option in Settings. It'd be much simpler to bring up phone settings and select ringer and caller voice volumes there.
That will keep the volume in the truck the same for the next time. However the issue is, the ringer volume gets maxed out on the phone itself every time it connects to the truck. You don't notice it until it disconnects and rings in your pocket the first time and embarrasses you in the bank line or something.

I see. I guess I hadn't noticed that yet because I keep the iPhone ringer at or near high most of the time anyway.
