shoping time

We are looking at buying a 1 ton for use with a slide in camper, currently looking at a 2006 6.0 xlt long box crew cab w 180k km for $14000 cad. It will primarily be used weekends for recreational use, occasionally around town if our grocery getter is in need of maintenance ect. Our current weekend vehicle is also a diesel but a bit different from what you guys are used to a 1996 Japanese 2.8l Mitsubishi delica. My concern is mainly the little amount of use the truck will see I have read about all the other gremlins a 6.0 can suffer from but this one is original owner, never chipped with all service records. I have also read about lack of use being an issue we usually get out camping 2-3 weekends/ month would this lack of use cause issues with turbos and other things or is that referencing daily short trip use a opposed to infrequent use?

Or you could get the truck you are looking at, knowing all the potential issues and enjoy it so much that you drive it a lot more than you expected.

I bought the V10 gasser first cause the price was 5K less than the similar diesels. used it with the slide-in. Loved driving it and soon ended up taking it on most of the out of town excursions. Then started pulling a camper with it. 5 years and more than 100,000 miles later I started to have to fix things that wear out. Decided I wanted to try a diesel.

Bought the first 6.0. Love it, pulls like a mule and got better mileage than the gasser. And after 3 years it developed the regular issues known to occur with a 6.0 so I fixed it. and I love it more now than before. So I bought another 6.0 and I love it too. So I have the three F350's, and I still use them as follows.
v10, grocery getter, Highway cruiser, haul stuff in the bed.
improved 6.0 hauls the 36 foot 5th wheel, the older camper, the slide-in, boats etc
unimproved 6.0 work truck, farm hauler, equipment hauler, hunting rig.

I have had some experience with other makes and models, and a built 6.0 is a hard working truck. both of mine will out pull most similar dodges and Chevys

If you use it on most weekends for trips you should not have any issues from lack of use.
