I have a dilemma, I have a 1970 truck and a 1983 351 windsor to put in it, i was wondering where the wires off of the ignition module go "ex. To the solenoid, to the red ignition switch wire etc"
Steve
Save the factory harness from the later model vehicle and use it for the lower connector in the picture.
Hook the coil wire as the original 1970 would be.
Run the red wire through the firewall and find a reliable connection for 12 volts with ignition on. The keyswitch would be a good place for this.
I believe your year truck probably has a starter relay(solenoid) on the fender with two small posts. One will be labeled "s" for start and the other will be "i" for ignition. Add a new wire to the "i" terminal and run it to the white wire of the ignition module. This will put the module in "start" mode, making the engine start easier.
