so i got the from what i can tell stock springs but i got my hands on a set of 09 rear f250 leafs would it work to take some of the leaf plates off the 09 set trim them alittle and add them into my stock springs wanted to go this route since after all the rebuilding and restoring of my X now the budget is tight with other parts needed such as coil packs boots and so on i wont be using the top plate nor the long flat bottom plate
ya they are roughly a foot longer for the top leaf blade thats why i was gonna just use the other blades and trim them to fit properly under the currently installed set on my X i made sure they had same width of 3 inches i will be buying a new center bolt and the C clamps that keeps the ends of the leafs curved aswell as new U bolts just to be safe since those are cheap
You will notice that the leafs have a taper out towards the end, If you cut that taper off to shorten it it causes a stress differential on the leaf above it which often leads to the leaf breaking.
oh that something i didnt notice thank you for letting me know about that before i cut into them.. i might be able to sell them to get the proper leafs instead things never come easy with all these year changes on vehicle parts
I don't know if it work out the same with the longer late model rear springs, but I took the single top overload leaf off my set of rear B codes and added it to my front leaf pack. The hardest part was drilling the two holes to add the two nylon slider pads to the ends of it.
Here is one front pack with the extra leaf added next to the other X code without. Attachment 287337
