Ok, I my dealer must be in kahutz with Detriot. My "elbow" still hasn't arrived. Was due in yesterday.
I think I might just drive up to Canada and let Racerguy fix me up right!
Jimmy
c'mon up...you're the next contestant
hmm that didnt sound quite right.
Sometimes parts take forever to get here too.
Our parts depot that supplies the western provinces of Canada is in Edmonton, Alberta which is about 900 miles from me. If we order parts before 3 pm they will be here before lunch the next day on the truck. Sometimes parts have to come out of the US or eastern Canada and can take from 2 days to a month to get here
OUch, I hope mine get here a little quicker than a month!!
I figure it will probably be the first of the week. Even though he said Friday and it didn't show up.
Jimmy
Well, I called my stealer today to see why I haven't heard from them about my hose. He finally got back on the phone and said to bring it in tomorrow.
Them suckers never ordered anything. I'll bet that they steal one off of a 2003 on the lot to replace mine.
Dave, do you know if the service part is a different design (type of rubber) then the original? It seems that they are are pretty cheezy from what I have read on here.
Jimmy
I'm not sure if the part has been updated.
I've only ever seen one (I think) PCV hose with a problem, and that was quite a while ago.
It's not common in our area. It's strange but in different areas you see different problems on vehicles.
Wow, I can't wait to talk to my dealer about this possible fix. I have had my 2002 Fx4 Supercab in at least 4 or 5 times and a couple dealers later no fix. I have the same annoying seat vibration at idle in gear. Drives me nuts and I swear it didn't do it during the first 5K miles. I found the TSB on my own that talked about engine mounts, neutralizing powertrain and reprogramming PCM and had that done 2x's. 1st dealer did it to no avail and 2nd actually made some improvement doing it again. Makes you wonder if the 1st one did anything. Anyway, it still vibrates badly and being an ex-Ford interior engineer it looks like to me seat integrated restraints didn't work well on the F150. I just haven't had any luck and I get the thats normal routine. BS, this is my 3rd F150 and the first two idled smooth as can be. I now have 20K miles on it and want to get this fixed under warranty. They tell me it is within specification and can't do anything more. Guess I will have to get louder in my complaining...
Ok, I had another one of those days. I went to the stealer today. They installed the new PCV hose assembly and reset my light again. (It had P0171 and P0174, lean on both banks now)He said all looks good now. So I leave. It still has the vibration, but I am tired of them telling me that it is normal. I get about 2 miles down the road and I'll be damned if the MIL didn't come on again!!! So, I whipped that baby around and hauled butt right back to the Stealer. This is my 5th trip about this idle.
He hooks it back up to the datalogger again. P0171 and P0174 again. So he got to looking a little closer, the MAF voltage is good, but the Baro pressure is a little off. The SFTRM is showing 25%.
He replaced the MAF and BAM< it runs better. It was running full rich trying to keep the mixture right because of a bad MAF.
The idle vibration is still there, but now it is more like just a vibration instead of a miss. UUURGGG.
And if that isn't bad enough, I go down to the hospital to visit my son (he's ok now, just going to be under observation for a few more days, but that's another long story.) So I have to turn my cellphone off at the hospital, and I'll be damned again, if Ford (Detroit) didn't call during the 2 hrs that I had my phone off. UUUUURRRRRGGGGG!!! will it ever end?? They guy that left me a voicemail could barely speak english ( sounds very middle eastern). I couldn't make out 1/2 of what he said.
I guess i will try to call them tomorrow if I get a chance. They keep making me mad, and i'm gonna get me a 2004 F150 out of them!!!
The con and hose assembly is pt# YL3Z-6C324-AA. They MAF is # XL3Z-12B579-BARM.
At least now I can get back to my so-so 14mpg rather than the 11mpg that I have been getting.
Sorry to go on and on, but I feel a little better now. Now, if I can get this thing smoother, I'll be a happy camper again.
Jimmy
well, it seems to be running a bit better. It's not so flat feeling now. I pulled my car trailer today with just a riding mower on it, but it felt like it wasn't straining as much as it did. I guess it really makes a diference when it is too rich. It also seems to be getting better gas mileage too. I can drive more miles now before the needle starts to move.
It still has that darn shutter at an idle. Other than that, she runs like a champ.
Jimmy
I spent the last few days working on my 171 and 174 problems. Tried going to the dealer for some advice, they "didn't trust the autozone codes" and would need to have a technician work on the car. I said thanks but no thanks.
I was sure it wasn't the PCV vaccum leak as I pulled the PCV valve and felt plenty of suck on it while the truck was running (97 F150 with 120K miles). I thought about the fuel filter thread but pulled the records from the last service a year ago and found I had the presence of mind to have it replaced. So I stopped myself on that. I really didn't want to spend the money on O2 sensors, so I tried the Mass Air Sensor by pulling the air filter housing and putting my finger over the hole where the sensor was, the trucks idle changed so i figured it was working.
Not beated down yet so I went back and read more threads and decided to go back to the rubber elbow from the PCV. I pulled the valve again, found lots of suck, and then followed the line (expecting it to lead to the rear of the intake manifold) and found it attached at the front of the manifold, under the main intake, in a horrible spot to work on. The elbow was bad, had an "eraser sized" hole it it.
Went back to auto zone, put something together with hoses and such, had my daughter (it is her truck and she has much smaller hands) put the thing together....went back to autozone, cleared the codes (free) and drove around for a half of an hour, no come backy....the codes I mean.
Glad yours is OK now. My vibration is still the same. I will talk to Ford again this week, if I don't get any results, I guess a lawyer will be my next step.
Jimmy
Well I filled it up yesterday. I am now back to 14mpg around town. I guess between the mass-air sensor and bad hose( they replaced the whole hose assembly from the PCV valve all of the way back to where it attatches where it engine.
I've been working alot of OT so I haven't had a chance to call Ford yet. I will update when I do.
