Hi guys, My stock headlights are beyond hope; the plastic is opaque all the way through. I plan on getting the HL28100 Susquehanna harness as money IS an issue but time is a bigger one. I need to plug and play and be on my way. My question(s)... will this harness allow me to install the hottest, brightest bulbs available in a new headlight assembly? I've spent a lot of time shopping online and am getting more confused at to what is the right assembly to purchase. I want more than the stock lighting but don't want to get too hot a bulb for the lens. Anybody got some experience with this issue? I've searched the forum and got more info than I can take in.
A harness like that is a great way to go. Puts the juice straight to the bulbs over 12 ga wire instead of routing up thru the dash switch and back over thin gauge wires. If/when my HIDs fail I'll be doing the same thing. Since that company also sells bulbs I bet they can hook you up with the correct harness and a maximum bulb with one phone call. This is a common platform so I'd imagine the right setup is no mystery to them.
Headlight lenses can be cleaned with DEET. Get the 100% DEET if you can. Rub it on with a clean cloth, polish a bit, then clean it off with another clean cloth. I like old socks for this. I also tried a Meguiars lens cleaning kit, and the DEET was much better. If they are really bad and won't clean up you will not experience the full potency of the new flamethrowers, obviously. If you need to replace them the later lenses like on a 2002 have a larger clear section so get those.
Thanks! We tried the Deet but the result was poor; the surface became smoother and repelled water nicely but did nothing to clear them up. I like the look of other lenses better!
