Door install and alignment

I am getting started on door install and alignment. The truck was apart when i got it so drilling alignment holes before disassembly did not happen.

My question is what is the proper order. I have new weatherstripping that is not installed yet. I have read a bunch of posts on this, but the weatherstripping is not really mentioned.

Fenders are not on and it is a flareside, so the bed is not an issue to align.

Is this the correct order?

Install door on the truck
Install door strike pin on jamb
Adjust doors
install weatherstripping

Or is weatherstipping first?

Thanks

I installed my doors first then installed the weatherstripping. Was by myself so I used my engine hoist to lift doors after painting. Used NOS doors so I didn't have any locating holes either. Lots of trial and error and minor adjustments to get them lined up properly. After installing weatherstrip just some very minor tweaking with the striker bolts. Then the fenders.

did you first align the doors then install the door latch pin?

I usually leave the striker pin in place, although maybe a little loose, so that there is something to hold the door up. Probably not the right way, but if I were dealing with freshly painted parts, I wouldn't depend on the pin to hold the door.
But I would probably still leave it loose on there, if installing with a cherry picker.
You also should probably worry about the captured nut falling out of place, and to the bottom of your B-pillar.
I just rehung my doors on my new cab last week, and I carried them over and lifted them into place, and latched them, and then put in my hinge-to-body bolts. I put the weatherstrip in last, as I suspect the doors are more difficult to align with the seals in place - especially if you're using new seals.

I'd hang the doors without the weather stripping and the striker. Fenders do not matter, you 1st gap them off the fixed cowl anyway. Them being off now makes it one less gap to worry about, till fender hang time.

Door "dent" in line with the cab "dent". Use paint stir sticks on the bottom (under the door, on top of the rocker) and or shims when hanging a pre hung house door. Gap the door edge to the drip rail.

To me, the body line (dent) lining up matters 1st, then drip rail gap, then the striker to set the finial flush adjustment of the door to the cab.

Eng hoist is a great idea for a one man show. Be patient and adjust, adjust, adjust. New weatherstripping will make them WAY tight and almost to the point that you have to slam shut with new stripping.
